Break in at Kineton - Items to look out for

Stables / garage was broken into during the night on Friday 23/9/11

The thieves broke through metal bars & stole a Stihl chainsaw,  a Sihl strimmer,  a John Deere " walk behind " mower, 5    20 litre cans of diesel, & some small tools.

The chainsaw can be easily identified because the petrol filler cap is secured to the saw by a small wire to stop it falling off.

Please keep a look out as these items may be offered for sale locally.

To protect yourself have a look at previous posting. LINK

However I have come to the comclusion having tried to fit the Richbrook Screws that the most secure and probably the cheapest way to secure a number plate is with an adhesive e.g. UniBond No More Nails

Apart from the inconvenience and expense (£20+) of having your car's number plates (=identity) stolen you are highly likely to be implicated in criminal activity so please report the theft to the police asap.

Trading Standards Update - 02/09/2011

02/09/2011 Free Electric Blanket Tests

Don’t delay – Warwickshire County Council’s Trading Standards Service has begun to take bookings for their free electric blanket safety tests. The county-wide campaign, which will run for one week in October, across five venues, is open to all Warwickshire residents, aged 50 and over. Why not have your blanket tested before winter?

Bookings for electric blanket tests are available by appointment only and will be taken on a first come first served basis. The number of appointments is limited so book early to avoid disappointment. Due to the expected demand for blanket tests, a limit of two blankets per person has been set.

Any Warwickshire resident aged 50 or over can book an appointment by phoning or emailing: 01926 414004 (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm) or ebtesting@warwickshire.gov.uk

Electric blanket testing will take place at the following locations on these dates:

Monday         3rdOctober        Leamington Town Hall
Tuesday         4thOctober        Rugby Library
Wednesday         5thOctober        Nuneaton Fire Station
Thursday         6thOctober        Kenilworth Library
Friday         7thOctober        Stratford Fire Station

02/09/2011 Driveway 'Special Sealant' Was Water - Nuneaton

Warwickshire Trading Standards has today been alerted to the activities of a door to door trader offering to clean and 'seal' driveways and roofs. Two elderly people in the Nuneaton area paid several hundred pounds to have their driveways cleaned and 'sealed' against weed growth. When first completed the driveways looked clean and tidy, but weeds began to appear very quickly and the residents now suspect that the driveways were only ever pressure washed with water.

The trader, who claimed to have branches from Birmingham to Manchester, only left a mobile phone number as a contact. He is now proving to be impossible to trace.

Consumers are advised not to agree to work offered by the first person who comes to their door (or posts a leaflet through their letter box). Choose local traders with verifiable names and addresses and where possible go on recommendation.
