Beat Manager: PC Jim Butler
PCSOs: Katrina Taylor, Matt Hodgetts, Claire Murray, Anita Reading
Assisted by Specials and Volunteers (which could mean you)

Notes on the Current Situation
  • Poblem with canvassing window cleaners who break in when there is no reply.
    • Fit an effective burglar alarm. Free advice available from Crime Prevention Officers.
  • Burglary - Up 20% nationwide, UP 71% in Stratford District (1st April - 25th May)
    • Keep vulnerable doors and widows locked even when you are in the house
    • Fit a door chain and always check a stranger's id. Cards are available to send strangers to a friend or relative who can check them out on your behalf.
    • Join NW (show the sticker) and make sure that your coordinator or a neighbour has your contact details and knows when you will be away for an extended period.
    • Identify your valuables with SmartWater which is available at a greatly reduced price through NW
  • Police are focussing on Harm Causers i.e. the few people who commit a high proportion of all crime.
  • Fraud committed with cheque-book intercepted in the post. Apparently some banks are  requesting their customers to pick up from their nearest branch.
  • There is a seasonal spate of shed burglaries.
    • Coordinators can obtain shed alarms and alarmed padlocks at very reasonable prices.
  • Anti social behaviour is an ongoing problem.
    • Please pass details of any incident that you class as ASB to the Southam SNT or your coordinator.
    • StreetWatch street-watch.org.uk is a new initiative that was started by Hampshire Police but is being evaluated in Warwickshire. It aims to increase the intelligence available to the police but will also focus on ASB.
